Privacy policy
Last updated 20 October 2026. This page describes how the Strolvia iPhone app and the related website handle information. Edit the contact email below before App Store review if you want a different address.
Who we are
Strolvia is a story-driven augmented-reality walking app. Players follow trails in historic towns; when they reach a stop, a character appears in AR and tells a short story. The companion website hosts the public API, admin console, and this privacy policy.
What data we use
- Location (when in use). While you play, Strolvia uses GPS and compass heading on your device to sort nearby hunts, detect arrival at a stop, place AR characters at real-world coordinates, and show wayfinding. Location is processed on your device for play. We do not sell location data.
- Camera. The camera is used only to show AR characters in the world around you. Strolvia does not record or upload camera video or photos from the AR session.
- Microphone. Strolvia does not record your microphone. A system permission string may appear because ARKit can configure audio as part of an AR session. Spoken narration uses on-device speech or downloaded audio files.
- Downloaded content. If you download a hunt for offline play, trail JSON, stop images, narration audio, and a bounded set of map tiles are stored on your device. You can delete downloads in Settings.
- Progress and settings. Which stops you have found, your preferred server URL, and similar preferences stay in on-device storage (UserDefaults / app files). They are not uploaded to our servers.
- Network requests. The app downloads published hunt content from the Strolvia server over HTTPS (or from a developer URL you enter in Settings). Standard server logs may include IP address and request metadata needed to operate the service.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not run third-party advertising trackers in the iPhone app.
- We do not require an account to play published hunts.
- We do not access your photo library to pick personal photos.
Children
Strolvia is a cultural walking experience, not directed at children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child inappropriately, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected on this page before they apply to new app versions where practical.
